Hello Fellow Del Sol Rotarians.  Hope you all had a Great July 4th celebrating our Nations Birth.  Because of the Holiday there was no regular Thursday Meeting but new Satellite Co-chair Jeff Wienrach did host  a Satellite meeting on July 1 dedicated to planning for the new Rotary year.  

 

The last Rotary year concluded with an informal dinner at Dave and Ann Simon's home honoring outgoing President Dacia Card and the 2018-2019 Rotary Del Sol Board on June 26. 21 Del Sol Rotarians  and their guests attended and had a great time at Dave and Ann's Home.  Dacia Card presented Certificates of Service to the members of her Board. She also presented a humorous gift to incoming President Dave Simon.

 

On Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Regular Club Meeting, Joe Oder, Executive Director of the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center presented a fascinating look at the Triad of systems that comprise our nations Nuclear Deterrence forces, including Navy Submarine,  Air Force Aircraft and land based ICBM.

 

On July 4, 2019,  Tom Cullen led a group of 14 Del Sol Rotarians to Santa Fe to assist the Rotary Club of Santa Fe with their Pancakes on the Plaza Service project.  This is a major area Rotary event in which thousands of people celebrate our Nation's Birth with a Good Old Fashioned Pancake Breakfast.

 

Tomorrow, July 11, 2019 President Dave Simon kicks off the 2019-2020 Rotary Year with the first regular meeting at Meals on Wheels Cafe. Ray Concho, Jr. will be the Speaker on the Subject, Community Update.

 

Saturday, July 13, 2019 Jacqueline Hockey Hosts the first Freeloaders of the Rotary year with a Bastile Day Celebration at her home.  She is serving Salmon and Chicken. Please remember to sign up on the link that Ed Robertson, Freeloader Chair sent to all Del Sol Rotarians. 

 

Applications for Charity Selection for the 2020 Governors Ball are now being taken.

Membership Chair Barrie Segall reminds all Del Sol Rotarians of the contest June, July and August to see who can bring the most guests.  Guests are potential members and will help us meet next years Membership Goal. Prizes will be awarded.
