THIS WEEK IN ROTARY

GOOD AFTERNOON DEL  SOL ROTARIANS.  PLEASE REMEMBER TO FILL OUT THE SURVEY ON THE TYPE OF MEETING YOU PREFER GOING FORWARD IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO.  THERE WILL BE  SPECIAL BOARD MEETING ON MARCH 30  AT 7:00AM AT WHICH YOUR BOARD WILL MAKE A DECISION ON FUTURE MEETINGS, WHETHER HYBRID, LIVE OR VIRTUAL. SO FAR WE HAVE HAD 18 RESPONSES AND WE WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM EVERY MEMBER INCLUDING SATELLITE MEMBERS ON THEIR WISHES REGARDING FUTURE MEETINGS.

Last Monday at 5:30pm the Satellite Group met via ZOOM.  The subject discussed at the meeting for the program was the RI initiative on "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion".  Jeff Weinrach had previously sent out a document from RI captioned "Diversifying Your Club" which discussed conducting a Diversity Assessment.  That was not done during the Satellite Meeting but a discussion was held on Diversity and Inclusion.

On Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 7:00AM there will be a Morning Meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians. Our speaker will be William Dodge, Ph.D. Dr. Dodge is an archaeologist and historian and has recently been compiling historical information about Albuquerque. This will be a ZOOM meeting and Club Secretary Davis Riordan has sent out a link to all members.  Depending on what the Board decides at the Special Board meeting on Tuesday, March 30 at 7:00AM this could be our last all ZOOM meeting.  Maybe soon we can have some type of in-person meetings.  President Ed, President-Elect Brad and Ron Hensley are meeting with the contractor doing remodeling on the Jimmy's Cafe meeting room to look into what type of audio/visual equipment would work for a meaningful Hybrid Meeting.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR APRIL 24, THE DATE OF THE NEW MEXICO ROTARY TELETHON.  The is a new event for us and Chair Tony Pino and "Program Director" Joe Corazzi are working to make this an exciting evening.   Joe has a great lineup of top entertainers to perform.

For the rest of us it our time to go on the website nmgoversnorscharityall.org and register.  This is very important so you can bid on items that will be auctioned.  Attendance at the event is free but sponsorships are gratefully accepted.  Along that line many of us who are over 70 and must take Required Minimum Distributions from IRA, 401k, Deferred Comp accounts can have a check written from the fund administrator direct to the Rotary Del Sol Foundation for your contribution to the Telethon.  That way you help our Foundation, support the Telethon and receive a tax benefit at the same time.  President Ed and Your Editor are already doing that and we encourage any one in that situation to do the same.

Also now is the time to invite guests to your home for "Watch Parties".  The way that will work is you will stream the Telethon onto your large screen TV for you and your guests and they will use their "smart phones" to bid on items at the Auction.

Speaking of Auction items Auction Chair Brad Ekhoff is still looking for them.

Lets all have a Great week in Rotary putting Service above Self.
