This week in Rotary

Thursday's Regular Meeting  on February 21, 2019 was at Roadrunner Food Bank in Albuquerque.  Tom Cullen arranged for a Burrito Breakfast from Jimmy's Cafe. 22 Del Sol Rotarians enjoyed breakfast and heard a presentation on the work of Roadrunner Food Bank by Brian Brown.  During the meeting Tom Cullen present Brian a check to Road Runner for $3500 which Tom said would buy 5 tons of Beans and Rice.

Brian explained how Roadrunner feeds 70000 people a week in New Mexico.  He also told about their 2nd Chance Program which gives Non-Violent offenders a  second chance to learn a job and become employed.  Especially interesting was how Roadrunner helps the ex- offenders qualify for CDL licenses and become truck drivers on the 16 semis that are operated by Road Runner.

He also told about the Healthy Food Center which encourages diabetic clients to eat healthier foods.

After the Meeting 15 Rotarians and guests worked in the Roadrunner warehouse to help package food as a service project.

Thursday, February 28, regular meeting will feature Carli Romero, Operations Coordinator for NewMexico Women.org. Her topic is New MexicoWomen.Org and the Heart of Gender Justice in New Mexico. Lets have a great turnout for Carli and this important topic.

Governors Ball is fast approaching, so lets get those sponsorships and auction items submitted.  Also remember to invite all your friends to a great Governors Ball.  Table sales are very important!!

Mary McCambridge from RI Foundation attended Thursdays Meeting with Eric Thompson to explain Planned Giving Opportunities at the Foundation.

Lets all have a Great week in Rotary putting Service above Self.
