On November 15 at the Regular Thursday Meeting, CNM Foundation Director Clint Wells was the Guest Speaker. He told us that CNM is now the largest Higher Education Institution in terms of student body in NM with between 24-25,000 students. Clint told us about the history of the school starting from its origin as a trade school until today where it is a community college with very innovative programs. One program he described is the Brewmasters course where students are trained to become brewmasters for New Mexicos growing and thriving Craft Brewing Industry. He said graduates are in big demand and get jobs immediately upon graduation.
Another program helps train professionals for the film industry and right now CNM is working with Netflix to develop a program to train all the new people needed for Netflix expansion in New Mexico.
The CNM Foundation provides help for student success not capital improvement. Its Milestone Scholarship program provides scholarships for students who are progressing in their program studies.
Rotarian of the day was our newest member Nicosha Schedlbauer. Nicosha graduated from Texas Tech University in 2008 and has a career in Real Estate and Business valuations. She told us how her real professional passion is developing her own Business Broker business. She also fit the Rotary Minute by reading an inspiring poem.
Tonight, November 19 the Satellite Group is meeting at 5:15 at Nexus Brewery. Speaker will be Rotarian Christine Glidden of the Women2Be Project. There will also be an update on the Pints for Polio event and plans for other Service projects.
There will be no Regular Thursday Meeting this week so all Del Sol Rotarians can enjoy a Happy Thanksgiving with their families.
We all have so much to be thankful for in our lives and in our work as Rotarians to help those in need in our community. Speaking of those in need Now is the time for all good Del Sol Rotarians to lug in their bags of Beans and Rice or write a check to the Rotary Del Sol Foundation and hand it to me, Tom Cullen, Dave Seely or Brad Sackett. Lets help to feed Albuquerques Hungry with a very big Beans and Rice program this Holiday Season.
Sponsorship packets are now available for Governors Ball. All members are requested to obtain sponsors to make this a Great Governors Ball.
Remember to sign up for the Annual Holiday Party on December 9, 2018 at Santa Ana Resort and Casino. Just click on the event in the events calendar and go to registration to sign up so we can have an accurate count for Santa Ana. This is a no cost event except for Adult Beverages so we hope to have a great turnout.
Happy Thanksgiving to all Del Sol Rotarians and let us all reflect and be grateful for all our many Blessings
