This Week in Rotary
Club Meetings

Our August 18th Morning Meeting speaker was Anthony Montoya from the Inspector General's Office of the US Department of Energy, who gave a very interesting and informative presentation.  We were also serenaded by Kent Cravens of our very own Rotary Wranglers!

This Thursday, we have a very special program.  We'll be presenting a second check to Maralyn Beck with the New Mexico Child First Network from Rotary Charity Ball proceeds.  Our special guest presenter will be Ann-Britt Asebol, who is a Past Rotary International Director and a member of the Swedish Parliament.  This will be one program you will not want to miss!  Here's a link to her bio.

We've had some great speakers and we have some more great speakers and programs coming up.  If you have any suggestions for upcoming speakers and/or programs, please provide the information through the link below.

Club Happenings

1. On September 8th, we'll be having a special Club Assembly focused on The Rotary Foundation and the Del Sol Foundation.  We are coordinating with our first Del Sol Foundation grant recipients for checks to be presented while honoring past Club President and one of the key members who drove us to achieve $1,000,000 in our permanent fund, Don Chalmers!  We'll also have presentations on our Paul Harris Fellow program as well as updates on our District and Global grant efforts.

2.  The August Club Board Meeting will be this evening (Sunday) from 6:00 to 7:00pm on zoom.  The zoom login info is in the event section on the home page.  All Club Members are welcome to attend including those who need to attend a Club Board Meeting as part of their requirements to get a blue badge.

3.  Upcoming Birthdays!

Bill Stewart - August 28th

Jeff Faulwell - September 4th

Bill Rothweiler - September 10th

Jeff Weinrach - September 20th

Chris Van Dyck - September 22nd

Mark Abramson - September 26th

If your birthday is during late August or September and it's not listed, please let President Jeff know so he can update the Club website and so we can celebrate with you.

4.  District Governor John Drusedum will be our special guest presenter on September 22.  John is from Roswell, and he is a great District Governor and an even better person.  Please join us 9/22 for what I'm sure will be a wonderful program.

5.  On August 30th, we are having a fund-raiser to support our next Nepal Global Grant.  Christine Glidden has arranged this with the Kolache Factory for 100% of its sales on the 30th to be contributed to our Global Grant fund.  The Nepal Global Grants that we have supported previously have been extremely successful and have been publicized not just within our Rotary District but nationally and globally.  Please consider joining us on 8/30 and invite your friends, coworkers, and family!

6.  Reminder:  New Venmo is up and running for our Club Account (to pay dues, happy bux, lucky bux) - "@RotaryDelSol30", and it will show up as Herman Haase.  If you're set up using the old Club Account in Venmo, please change it.  The Club Foundation account ("@R-otaryDelSolFoundation") is staying the same.

7.  Rotary Del Sol is Social!

8.  If you have any Rotary-related news or happenings, please provide them to Jeff so he can include them in upcoming bulletins.

Rotary Happenings

August is Membership and New Club Development Month.  We're always looking for outstanding people to join our merry band, so be on the lookout!

District Happenings

1.  District Governor John Drusedum has established a District-wide Blood Drive Challenge from now through January 31st.  The goal is a total of 1000 units collected ("1000 Pints of Life").  Last year, the District gave out four Paul Harris Awards, and will do it again this year for the clubs with most pints donated.  Eric Collings will be speaking at our Twilight Meeting about this challenge and about the District's Public Image Strategy.  More information on the Blood Drive Challenge can be found here:  documents/en-us/d1f076f4-1ea7-421c-abaa-df7d0e043a7d/1).

Please feel free to call, text, or e-mail President Jeff (1-505-400-1403, jweinrach5520@nmia.com) if you have any feedback or suggestions for future Bulletin content or if you have any feedback or questions about any aspect of our Club.

Let's all have a great week in Rotary putting Service above Self!
