On August 2 at the Satellite Meeting, Joe Corazzi was the speaker discussing the plans to market the 2021 Rotary Telethon to other not for profit charitable organizations for their fundraisers.

 

On Thursday, August 5, at the Morning Meeting for all Dl Sol Rotarians, David Campbell, CEO of the Mesa Del Sol Planned Unit Development on the South side of Albuquerque was the featured speaker.  David has had a great career in public service including posts in the Foreign Service and various executive positions in Albuquerque City Government and also in Rio Rancho.

 

One other position he has is as an ambulance driver where he was the one who drove RDS Foundation President Dave Seely to the hospital when he was injured recently.

 

Mesa Del Sol is the largest Planned Community in New Mexico with 3000 acres of private land and 10,000 acres of government land.

 

The concept for the development was to create the jobs first and then the housing.  So at present there are 2000 jobs at Mesa Del Sol but only 300 houses.  400 more housing units of diverse size and style are in the planning stages.

 

 Among companies operating at MDS are Netflix and Fidelity Investments.  Netflix is planning a huge expansion of their facility there, from 30 acres to 300 acres.

 

Saturday, August  14 will be the largest Ramps Project undertaken by Del Sol.  Volunteers are needed and you can sign up in the events calendar on the RDS website. Even if you can't come right at 8:00AM, the start time please come and do whatever you can. 

 

Thursday, August 12, 2021 at the Morning Meeting Rotary District 5520 District Governor  Robert Rausch will make his annual visit to Del Sol.  This will be an opportunity for the Governor to outline plans of  the District for Rotary year 2021-2022 and for us to tell him what our plans are for the year. Please let's have a great turnout on Thursday either in person at Jimmy's Cafe or via ZOOM.
