This week in Rotary
On August 15,  at the Regular Thursday Meeting, Dr. Mark Kropp, a new RDS Member and physician was the guest speaker.  He told RDS members about the Rotarian Clinic in the Amazon in Brazil.  Mark works as a physician at the Clinic  alternating with his other career as a consultant here in Albuquerque.  We are very excited to have Mark as one of our newer members.
On August 8, 2019 the Charity Selection Committee chaired by Past President Dacia Card met to vet the various charities sponsored by Del Sol Members as possible beneficiaries of the 2020 Governors Ball for New Mexico Children.  This will be the first Ball as a Joint Venture with the Rotary Club of Albuquerque.  After a thorough review of the  various applications the Committee narrowed down the applications to six.  Each of the sponsors of these six charirties will make a presentation at the August 29, 2019 Regular Club Meeting.  After the presentations a preliminary vote of the members will take place to narrow the number to three finalists.  Then at the September 5 Regular   Club Meeting the three finalists will make presentations to the members after which there will be a vote of the members to select the Charity for the 2020 Ball.  None  of the members of the Charity Selection Committee are allowed to sponsor a charity.
Saturday August 17 was a Freeloader event at the home of Tony and Julie Pino. A great time was had by all Rotarians and guests who attended.
Tomorrow, August 19, 2019,  The Satellite Group will meet at 5:15PM at Nexus Brewery. Primary focus of the meeting will be a meeting of the Clubs Public Image Committee.
