Eric Layer, VP of Operations & Research at McKee Wallwork, joined us with a thought-provoking look into what’s really going on in today’s workforce.
Some of the insights he shared:
-
46% of workers are okay with “quiet quitting.”
-
43% are fine with ghosting their employer.
-
Only 6% of working Americans have kids at home.
-
And nearly 40% say they’ve actually been traumatized by a previous job.
It paints a picture of a workforce that’s burned out, disconnected, and unsure about the future.
But Eric didn’t leave us there. He reminded us that we, as leaders, have the ability—and the responsibility—to help rewrite that story. One that replaces suffering with purpose, disconnection with relationships, and burnout with vision.
The bottom line? We don’t need to demand more from people—we need to lead better. With empathy. With meaning. And with action.

Balloon Fiesta Volunteers
Rotary del Sol will again provide volunteers for the Fiesta Merchandise North tent at one Mass Ascension (morning session, 10/4) and one Balloon Glow (evening session, 10/10). This will be the 7th year that the Club has done this activity. This is a great fundraising opportunity for the Club that earns us $600 per shift.
Like previous years, RDS has been given excellent, preferential volunteer shifts. This includes shifts during the morning Mass Ascension on the first day of Fiesta (Saturday, October 4, 4:30-11:30 am) and the popular Friday night Balloon Glow (Friday, October 10, 3:30-9:30 PM). The Fiesta knows that RDS brings experienced volunteers and they are grateful for our assistance.
Please go the RDS website right away, log in, and register for a shift(s). (
www.rotarydelsol.org). I have set up 2 separate events. Register for one or both!
