Club Happenings

1.  Club Meeting Updates

What a wonderful Club meeting this past Thursday! Our guest presenter was Rikki Quintana, Founder of Hoonarts Fair Trade (HoonArts: Doorway to the ‘Stans of Central Asia-Travel, Learn, Shop) Her travels and time spent in Tajikistan and her passion for life were an inspiration to all of us!
This week, we are having a Twilight Meeting on Tuesday afternoon (Nexus Brewery and Zoom), and it will be a Club Business Meeting.  On Thursday morning, our guest presenter will be David Saavedra, Director of Government Affairs, New Mexico Association of Realtors.

2.  Freeloaders this Saturday, May 6th at Ron and Cindy Hensley's House!  Important Details Below...

This Saturday, May 6th, we'll be having our next "Freeloaders" social event at Cindy and Ron Hensley's home.  May 6th is also Kentucky Derby Day so wear your Derby finery.
The main course will be southern baked chicken and pulled pork and attendees are asked to bring appetizers, salads, side dishes and desserts. Ron has reported that he has hired a bartender for the night and in honor of the day Mint Juleps will be served in addition to beer and wine but please feel free to bring any other adult beverages you would like. Soft drinks and water will also be provided,
Please coordinate with Cindy on what you are planning to bring so we don't end up with all salads and no desserts which would be awful.  Cindy's cell number is 505 238-6445.
Their address is 434 Avenida C de Baca, Bernalillo NM
Please use the Online Registration link in the events section of our website to register yourself and your guests, and you can use the "comments" section to add what food item or items you would like to bring.  Here's a link to go directly to the Freeloaders event so you can register:
You can contact Ed Robertson at 1-505-263-8050 or or Ron Hensley at 1-505-238-6335 with any questions.  We have quite a few new Club members, so this will be a great opportunity to get to know them.

3.  Project SMART "Train the Trainer" for Naloxone Class!

For the first step in our new Project SMART (School Education, Medicine and Drug Disposal, Awareness, Recovery, and Treatment) initiative, our Project SMART team (Jeff, Davis, Dean, Kit, and Dan) is coordinating a "Train the Trainer" Naloxone class for 20 to 25 people (they do not need to be Rotarians). Naloxone is an opioid antagonist meaning that it binds to opioid receptors and can reverse and block the effects of opioids such as heroin, morphine, and oxycodone.  We will be providing this Naloxone Training using the newest and latest Naloxone from Kloxxado that is more effective and works faster than other products.  If you are interested in being one of our trainers for this roll-out, please contact President Jeff at 1-505-400-1403 or

6. Rotary Fellowships and Rotary Action Groups

Besides all the great activities we do at the Club level, members have the opportunity to join Rotary Fellowships and Rotary Action Groups.  The Fellowships tend to be more social in nature (Golf, Wine, etc.), while the action groups are aligned with Rotary's Areas of Focus and the work we do through the Rotary Foundation (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Polio Survivors, etc.).  Please consider joining one or more of these groups to add to your Rotary experience:
