This week in Rotary
On May 23 at the Regular Thursday Meeting, Robert Gilbert of Fathers Building Futures spoke on how his organization helps recovering drug addicts to become employed, stay clean and become better fathers. Robert told a very moving story about his own addiction, imprisonment and recovery.  He is now bookkeeper for Fathers Building Futures and single father for four children.

"Fathers " has had over 350  Clients, all of whom have been drug addicts and have spent time in prison.

One of their main projects is a woodshop making biodegradable caskets. Clients are also helped to obtain CDL licenses so they can become employed as truck drivers.

President-Elect Dave Simon announced an exciting Service Project.  The City  of Albuquerque will be hosting the National Senior Games June 14-26 and will need to fill 7000 slots for volunteers.  So lets go Fellow Del Sol Rotarians and sign up.  Please contact Dave Simon or Chris Van Dyck about this opportunity for Service.

On May 20,  The Satellite Group had another successful meeting at Nexus Brewery

This Thursday at the Regular Club Meeting at Meals on Wheels Cafe the speaker will be Paula Paul a fiction novelist.

Also at this weeks Regular Meeting Tony Pino will present an option for future Governors  Charity Balls.  It involves a Joint Venture for the Ball with the Albuquerque Downtown Club.  THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT PRESENTATION SO ALL MEMBERS SHOULD TRY TO ATTEND. One week later there will be a vote of the membership on future options for the Governors Charity Ball.

Dr. Mark Kropp, a transferring member from the Vacaville Sunrise Club in California will be inducted into membership in Del Sol at Thursday's Regular Meeting.  Mark is a very exciting addition to our club.  He has worked as a physician at the Rotarian Clinic in Brazil.

Barrie Segall and the Membership Committee announced last week that they would have three month contest to see which member can bring the most visitors to meetings.  The person who wins will receive an award.  The idea is that visitors often become members.

Lets all have a Great week in Rotary putting Service above Self.
