This Week in Rotary - November 12, 2017

UPDATE CENTRAL

First things, first: It's time for Every Rotarian, Every Year - the program that encourages all Rotarians - every single one of us - to contribute to the Rotary Foundation, annually. Last year, our club had the highest per capita giving rate in District 5520. One of President Michael's goals for this year is to have 100% participation in Rotary Foundation giving. Any easy way to give is to go to Rotary.org. For every $10 contributed, you're entitled to one ticket in the Rotary Raffle (Cruise or Cash!!), AND contributions to the Rotary Foundation & Rotary Del Sol Foundation are tax deductible! Let's all make an effort to be 100%!!

  • Last week, we heard from Adjutant General Kenneth Nava, commander of the New Mexico National Guard for a special Veterans Day talk. Thanks to General Nava for his important talk!
  • This week, we'll hear from Cub reporter, Ed Hughes, who covered the Kennedy Assassination. This is sure to be a very interesting talk - make sure be there for this!
  • District 5520 has officially announced the "Four-Way Test Essay Contest. More word to come regarding our club's Four-Way Test committee! Anyone interested in learning more or helping during the process, please reach out to President Michael Barrio!
  • On November 18, fellow Rotary del Sol members James Morrison and John Heck will be in Tuscon to Ride To End Polio! Let's help them raise funds for this important cause. You can help out by clicking on this link and all contributions go directly to Rotary International. Let's go, James & John!
  • If you haven't already, take a look at our Annual Governors Ball event on Facebookand our awesome new website - and DON'T FORGET TO SHARE! Invite all your friends and family, colleagues, and contacts and let's make this the biggest Governors Ball EVER! See you at the biggest, most anticipated, and charitable event of the year!
  • Last week, Yale Jones from the Rotary Club of Taos-Milagro has agreed to be the international partner club with the Nueva Guatemala Rotary Club on a new water and sanitation project. In short, it will provide proper toilets, hand washing stations, and hygiene education to seven schools in the very poor area of Villa Nueva. Due to an expansion of the project, an additional $5000 is needed from District 5520. If you're interested in further detail or how you can help, please reach out to Yale directly at: yijonessf@gmail.com.
