Club Happenings

1.  Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!  We hope that you each had an opportunity to take the time and be thankful for all of our blessings, including our merry band of Rotarians!  It bears repeating especially during this time of reflection and gratitude that we are an EXCELLENT Club with EXCEPTIONAL members performing EXTRAORDINARY service!

2. Upcoming Club Activities!

Dinner and White Christmas on December 2nd!

Our very own Kit and Toni Turpen will be in the cast of White Christmas, which will be playing at the Rodey Theater at the University of New Mexico. Showtime is 7:30. A number of us will be attending this coming Friday evening and enjoying excellent fellowship time including dinner at M'tucci's before the play.

The deadline to join us had been Wednesday, 11/23, but if there is still time for you to join us, Ed will let us know.

Christmas Party/Freeloaders on December 10th!

Jennifer and Bryan Huffaker have graciously offered to host our Rotary del Sol Freeloaders/Christmas party Saturday night December 10th at 6:00 PM (11820 Anaheim Ave., NE).

The main courses will be smoked turkey and ham. Jennifer and Bryan will also provide water and regular drinks, but feel free to bring additional adult beverages.

Please coordinate directly with Jennifer on which appetizers, salads, side dishes and desserts you would like to bring.  Jennifer's cell/text number is 505-401-2021 and her email is jenniferhuffaker@gmail.com.

We know we will have at least one of our Rotary Wranglers in attendance who can lead us in singing some of our favorite Christmas carols. We hope there will be a few more!

A fun Christmas activity will be a White Elephant gift exchange where each individual (or you can do it as a couple) brings a wrapped gift and then draws for a number to pick a gift or steal one that has been opened previously. The theme is “Past Treasures.” So nothing new. These gifts can be inexpensive or items that you may have lying around the house. Gag gifts that usually get a lot of laughs.

Please contact Jennifer as early as possible so we can get a good idea of attendance.

These parties are always a lot of fun, so please consider bringing a potential member!

Thursday morning meeting!

Our special guest this Thursday will be Lucy Winn, who is the 2022 American Honey Queen!  Lucy Winn is the daughter of Stephen and Lauren Winn of Carlisle, Pennsylvania.  Lucy is a sophomore at the DeSales University where she studies business management and marketing.  Her family keeps backyard beehives, which sparked her passion for beekeeping.  At school, Lucy tutors local students in math.  In her free time, Lucy loves to read, throw pottery, walk her dog, and keep bees.

3. Upcoming Birthdays and other dates to celebrate, support each other, etc.

November/December Birthdays!

Phil DeBerardinis - November 28th

Mitch Selking - December 29th

Bruce Shaffer - December 31st

Roberrt Brown will be reaching out to you if your birthday is not listed on our website.  If you have any important reasons to celebrate other than birthdays (anniversaries, birth of a child or grandchild, etc.) or reasons for your fellow Club members to support you, pray for you, help you (e.g., loss of a loved one), please let President Jeff know and he will make sure that the Club is notified and that we can respond accordingly.  We are all in this together!

Rotary Happenings

November is Rotary Foundation Month.  Our Club has been and continues to be one of the most supportive Clubs of the Rotary Foundation in our District, not just in our financial support but also in our use of the Foundation to support our District and Global Grants.

District Happenings

1.  District Governor John Drusedum's blood drive challenge is still in effect through January 31st.  The goal is a total of 1000 units collected ("1000 Pints of Life").  Last year, the District gave out four Paul Harris Awards, and will do it again this year for the clubs with most pints donated.  More information on the Blood Drive Challenge can be found here:  documents/en-us/d1f076f4-1ea7-421c-abaa-df7d0e043a7d/1).

Central Area Happenings

Please check out the link below for happenings in the Central Area of our District (e.g., Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Socorro, etc.)!  There are a number of projects and activities that we can support.

Please feel free to call, text, or e-mail President Jeff (1-505-400-1403, jweinrach5520@nmia.com) if you have any feedback or suggestions for future Bulletin content or if you have any feedback or questions about any aspect of our Club.

Let's all have a great Thanksgiving week in Rotary putting Service above Self!
