Announcing a great opportunity to volunteer with the sorting of 10,000 Bombas Socks for the Unsheltered and Indigenous communities of New Mexico.

A truck will be delivering 40 large boxes with 250 socks per box.  Socks will be sorted based on requests by agencies supporting the Homeless and Indigenous communities.

We will meet in the parking lot of the Salvation Army.

We need volunteers to hlep get ready for the Balloon Fiesta and support the NM School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Foundation.  Arrive at 8"45.

The speaker will be Ron Hidalgo, Executive Director of Silver Horizons.  Silver Horizons’ Mission is to provide critical help to extremely low-income senior citizens, and the family members living with them, with life’s basics: groceries, household bills and home repairs/retrofits. Each month, these three core services assist about 4,000 senior citizens.

World Polio Day is observed on October 24th each year. It's a day to raise awareness and resources for the global effort to eradicate polio. The day also honors the contributions of those who work to end polio. 

Brad Ekhoff's daughter will be hosting another painting party at her business - this time painting wine glasses.  Her address is 2474 Bosque Famrs Blvd, Peralta, NM.  It's about six miles south of Isletta casino.  There will be a food truck there.  Cost is $40 per person.

Rotary Del Sol is joining with the Sandia Rotary Club to collect toys for New Mexico children, coordinated with the US Marine Corps Reserve.  The basic mission of the Marine Toys for Tots is to collect new unwrapped toys to distribute to less fortunate children at Christmas.  Giving toys brings the joy of Christmas and sends a message of hope to America's disadvantage children.  Jimmy's Cafe will host a toy box to collect toys from October 24th to December 8th.  Please bring unwrapped toys (children ages infant to 12 years) on October 24th to launch the 2024 campaign.  The box iwll be available as an advertised location for Albuquerque resident to drop off toys.

Hello Y'all (so glad it's fall) and time to plan for the first Ronald McDonald Guest Chef dinner.  So far, many Del Sol members have indicated their interest in preparing and serving food to the residents @ Spring Hill Suites(across from Presbyterian Hospital) residing there because of specialty medical treatment for their young children.

A Halloween themed dinner will be offered to 45 residents and food preparation will start around 4 pm (or later if we determine that the prep requires less time). Costumes ( not necessarily extravagant) are highly recommended and food should have some spooky elements.  Dan and Maxine are in charge of making their highly rated Beef Stroganoff (otherwise referred to as Beast Ghoulash) and Meredith is planning to make her famous Graveyard Pudding.

We can gather to talk about the dinner after a Thursday meeting (if possible) or email our thoughts about other meal items and culinary needs.

Friday, October 25th is a possibility as well.

Please RSVP ASAP to reserve a spot. Too many cooks can spoil a (witch's caldron)-- only 10 spots are available. We will also do a Christmas themed dinner in December as well as a Valentine's dinner in February for those who are interested but cannot be accommodated this time. 

We are planning to go out for some pizza and beer after the Halloween Feast.
