Club Happenings

1.  Retro Meetings this past Thursday!

Thanks to our humble hosts Kent Cravens, Kit Turpen, and Dave Simon for hosting our first Retro Meeting of the Rotary Year!  We'll be doing at least one more this year and it may be at a different time of the day to accommodate members who cannot attend at 7:00am.

2.  Governors Charity Ball Charity Nominations:  We are extending the deadline to submit charity nominations for this year's Governors Charity Ball.  Please let President Jeff know if you are still working on a nomination application so we can plan for upcoming Club presentations.  Here's a link to the nomination form: documents/en-us/f076d214-f645-4a76-9b96-6c01b3927e8a/1

3.  Governors Charity Ball Committees:
Over the next several weeks, we'll be setting up our Committees in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Albuquerque.  Below are the proposed Committees and their purpose.  We want as many Club members to participate, so please be thinking about on which Committee you may be interested in serving.  We'll be checking in with everyone soon to set up Committee assignments.

VIP Committee – Coordinates invitations and serves as liaisons to Ball VIP’s (including but not limited to Governors)

Charity Committee – Coordinates selection of charities and serves as liaisons with charities’ points of contact throughout the pre-event, event, and post-event timeframes

Auction Committee – Coordinates all auction-related activities including selection, collection, and pricing of auction items – includes coordination with and participation of First Sergeants

Event Logistics Committee – Coordinates all activities related to the event logistics including but not limited to hotel and ballroom accommodations, food and food service, registration and seating, band coordination, decorations, and Ball agenda

Marketing/Advertising/Printing Committee – Coordinates public relations and marketing activities related to the Ball and the selected charities, as well as all printing including both for advertising and for the event program; sends out a “Save-the-Date” to target audience (VIPs, previous donors, and previous attendees, for example)

Revenue Committee – Coordinates all activities other than the auction that generates revenue from the Ball, specifically table sales and sponsorships

Recognition Committee – Identifies all charities previously helped by the Governors Ball and posts results of the help in a “Charity Hall” and what they are doing today thanks to the help. Responsible for providing recognition to any other group that provides substantive support to the Ball and its charities.

4. Upcoming Birthdays!

Dean Constantine - October 26th

5.  Venmo Reminder!

New Venmo is up and running for our Club Account (to pay dues, happy bux, lucky bux) - "@RotaryDelSol30", and it will show up as Herman Haase.  If you're set up using the old Club Account in Venmo, please change it.  The Club Foundation account ("@R-otaryDelSolFoundation") is staying the same.  Here's what it looks like when you access it:

Rotary Happenings

October is Economic and Community Development Month.  Many of our service projects including our ramp builds have positive impact on our Community and on our local economy.  We have ample opportunity to participate in similar projects this year and going forward.

District Happenings

1.  District Governor John Drusedum's blood drive challenge is still in effect through January 31st.  The goal is a total of 1000 units collected ("1000 Pints of Life").  Last year, the District gave out four Paul Harris Awards, and will do it again this year for the clubs with most pints donated.  More information on the Blood Drive Challenge can be found here:  documents/en-us/d1f076f4-1ea7-421c-abaa-df7d0e043a7d/1).

2.  Our Rotary District will be putting on a Rotary Foundation Training on Saturday, November 5th.  This will be a great way to learn more about the Rotary Foundation including both global and district grants for which our Club is heavily involved in both.  The training is by zoom, and here is the registration page (you will need to login to register...contact President Jeff if you can't login):

Central Area Happenings

Our Club is part of the District's Central Area, which includes all the Clubs in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho as well as Clubs in the East Mountains and as far west as Grants and Gallup.  We have set up a website which contains information about what is going on in the Central Area including events that we can support.  Here's the link so you can see what our neighboring Clubs are doing in case you are interested in helping them:

Please feel free to call, text, or e-mail President Jeff (1-505-400-1403, jweinrach5520@nmia.com) if you have any feedback or suggestions for future Bulletin content or if you have any feedback or questions about any aspect of our Club.

Let's all have a great week in Rotary putting Service above Self!
