Club Happenings

1.  Retro Meetings this Thursday - urgent for you to register before 8:00 Wednesday morning!
This Thursday, WE WILL NOT BE MEETING AT JIMMY'S.  Instead, we'll be having our "Retro" meetings hosted by Dave Simon, Kit Turpen, and Kent Cravens, each at their locations.  Registration through the Club website is required so the hosts have an accurate count of attendance to take care of food, etc.  We only have had a handful of Club members register so far; so, if you have not yet done so, please register for one of the three meeting locations (and you must be logged in to the website to register).  Retro meetings are a great way of learning about our members' vocations while still enjoying great fellowship.  If you are not able to register on-line, please let President Jeff know which meeting you plan to attend, and Jeff will enter your info.

Here are the links to register (and, again, if you cannot log in to the website or are having any problems with registration, please let Jeff know ASAP so he can register you):

2.  Governors Charity Ball Charity Nominations:  There is still time to nominate a charity for this year's Governors Charity Ball so please complete and return this form (documents/en-us/f076d214-f645-4a76-9b96-6c01b3927e8a/1) to President Jeff as soon as possible.  We intend to start having presentations about the charities starting on October 27th (the week after the Retro Meetings), so please get your applications in ASAP.  Jeff will also send out a blast e-mail Sunday afternoon with this reminder along with a copy of the application form in case the link above isn't working for you.

3.  Successful Ramp Build!

Thanks to everyone for a successful ramp build this past Saturday!  An important reminder of what Rotary is all about:  Service Above Self!

4.  Club Meetings!

This past Thursday, our special guest presenter was Myers Godwin with NDI New Mexico who spoke, in part, about what NDI is going to do with the funding through the Don Chalmers Memorial Grant that it received.  We are excited to continue our strong relationship with NDI New Mexico, and we look forward to hearing back from NDI after the grant money has been applied.

Our Rotarian of the Day (ROTD) was the incomparable Dan Wilkinson, who not only provided us with an interesting background on his life including his history in our Club but also serenaded us with beautiful trumpet music (fits our morning meeting perfectly!).  Thank you so much, Dan, for your passion, integrity, and commitment to service!  We'll start up ROTD again on 10/27, so please let Ron or Jeff know if you are interested in presenting at that meeting.

Besides the Retro meetings on Thursday, we'll also be having our Twilight Meeting on Tuesday evening; and our special guest will be Randy King, who is the Head Brewer at Nexus.  This should be a very interesting and "tasty" presentation, so please join us.

5. Polio Event Update:  We did not have enough registrations to put on our World Polio Day event on 10/21, so we will try for something later this year.

6. Upcoming Birthdays!

Dean Constantine - October 26th

Bob Nachman - October 27th

Byron Zahm - October 28th

Steve Reynolds - October 31st

7.  Venmo Reminder!

New Venmo is up and running for our Club Account (to pay dues, happy bux, lucky bux) - "@RotaryDelSol30", and it will show up as Herman Haase.  If you're set up using the old Club Account in Venmo, please change it.  The Club Foundation account ("@R-otaryDelSolFoundation") is staying the same.  Here's what it looks like when you access it:

If you have any ideas or suggestions for our social media, please let Public Image Chair Lisa Chavez or President Jeff know.  And please like, follow, share, etc. our social media.  It will help spread the good word!

If you have any Club-related news or happenings, please provide them to Jeff so he can include them in upcoming bulletins.

Rotary Happenings

October is Economic and Community Development Month.  Many of our service projects including our ramp builds have positive impact on our Community and on our local economy.  We have ample opportunity to participate in similar projects this year and going forward.

District Happenings

1.  District Governor John Drusedum's blood drive challenge is still in effect through January 31st.  The goal is a total of 1000 units collected ("1000 Pints of Life").  Last year, the District gave out four Paul Harris Awards, and will do it again this year for the clubs with most pints donated.  More information on the Blood Drive Challenge can be found here:  documents/en-us/d1f076f4-1ea7-421c-abaa-df7d0e043a7d/1).

2.  Our Rotary District will be putting on a Rotary Foundation Training on Saturday, November 5th.  This will be a great way to learn more about the Rotary Foundation including both global and district grants for which our Club is heavily involved in both.  The training is by zoom, and here is the registration page (you will need to login to register...contact President Jeff if you can't login):

Central Area Happenings

Our Club is part of the District's Central Area, which includes all the Clubs in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho as well as Clubs in the East Mountains and as far west as Grants and Gallup.  We have set up a website which contains information about what is going on in the Central Area including events that we can support.  Here's the link so you can see what our neighboring Clubs are doing in case you are interested in helping them:

Please feel free to call, text, or e-mail President Jeff (1-505-400-1403, jweinrach5520@nmia.com) if you have any feedback or suggestions for future Bulletin content or if you have any feedback or questions about any aspect of our Club.

Let's all have a great week in Rotary putting Service above Self!
